Chicago’s Lake Point Tower’s New Mural
The iconic Lake Point Tower in Chicago has a new mural in their playroom. Let me tell you that this building, the staff and residents I met are all fantastic! Jim Stecko, the General Manager, made the logistics easy and even let us use the valet parking while we were working. Residents gave me a tour of the private garden and pool area that is built over their parking garage. I’m talking trees and a mini nature walk path! We painted the mural in winter, but I can only imagine what the garden looks like in summer with a view of Lake Michigan… (dreamy) Anyways, back to the mural…
The Mural Design
A Lake Point Tower resident developed the mural and chose the colors. Previously, the room colors were bright orange and lime green which are very exciting and energizing colors. However, the condominium owners really wanted a more soothing and peaceful feel in the playroom. They were right to pick muted blues and greys with a nature theme! The Laura Lynne Art team made some adjustments to the design to make sure the composition was more eye-pleasing. We have extensive training and experience in color theory, design and composition, plus years directly observing nature to hone our skills, so we noticed that some of the trees were evenly spaced. We also used our creative license with the trees. Keeping the design simple and easy to touch up was important to the client, so we simplified the trees.

Transforming Rooms with Murals and Color
The design and colors of this room were totally transformed. The condominium association added a large play structure with a slide and other furniture to make the room more comfortable. According to the residents, the room is enjoyed and loved now. My team and I were very happy to assist by painting their beautiful mural design!
