I’ve collaborated with a lot of people and organizations throughout my art making career, from individuals to schools to nonprofit organizations like the DuPage Children’s Museum. It’s really fun to see a child’s face when I show them a piece of art that I created using their artwork. I love to do art collaborations!

Examples of Art Collaborations with Kids

Floral Collages

Here is an example of collage art I created using flowers made with a preschool class. The collaborative project included a flower making workshop and story. I used the beautiful flower collages they created during the workshop, then added my own collage materials and hand-painted details like the vase and butterfly. In this 1.5-3 hour drawing workshop, elementary students studied fruit from life using soft pastels. The fruit drawings they completed were photographed, sized, then printed on archival paper. After I printed the fruit, I painted the white and blue bowls and assembled the collage. Each collage is coated with layers of medium and varnish so they can be wiped with a soft cloth.

DuPage Children’s Museum Collaboration – Midwest Prairie Art

During the pandemic, I collaborated with the Arts and Maker Specialist at the DuPage Children’s Museum, Dustin Thacker to create four hours of art instruction videos. The video art instruction lead to a collaborative art project based on native prairie plants and animals. We worked virtually with the kids, commenting on the art they submitted in a shared online art gallery and led live workshops via Zoom. After all of the art was submitted, I collaged the kids’ beautiful art into a large, colorful collaborative artwork that is hanging in the museum.

Since working on the Midwest prairie art workshop series, I have also developed art workshops exploring:
